To Judge
or
Not To Judge?
Does the Bible give clear and understandable guidance on
judgment of other people? Some say
"yes!" Others say "No!" What
do
the scriptures say about judging? Is
there any clear and convincing
evidence in God's Word one way or
the other? One person
says, "Well Jesus is speaking in
Matthew 7:1 to a multitude of
people, and He says very clearly
'Judge not, that ye be not judged.' In
fact, that is what everybody is
saying now days and that is good
enough for me!" Another person
says, " That is taking scripture out
of its context, and not the final
word of what Jesus was saying or
what He meant."
Therefore, where is the Christian
duty bound to take a biblical stand?
Can
we rely upon the public schools or
society as a whole to set the
standards for civil and moral
behavior? This study will in no way
be exhaustive in its content, but
it should be more than convincing
that our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Apostles and Prophets made
numerous statements found in both the
Old and New
Testaments where they made it
abundantly clear that we are required
to make righteous judgments. In fact
there are
numerous passages that will be used
in this extended study of judging,
that will assist us all to make
serious biblical decisions on our
personal conduct, and the conduct of
others as well..
If My
people, which are called by My name,
shall humble themselves, and pray,
and seek My face, and turn from
their wicked ways; then will I hear
from heaven, and will forgive their
sin, and will heal their land. II
Chronicles
7:14.
The
above passage of scripture is used
by many Christians thinking that
their prayers will solve all of
our moral problems. It might astound
many who think so, but there are
three propositions that are vital to
note. The first is that this is a
conditional prayer, that starts with
'IF'. If all the conditions are not
met, then the prayers will not be
answered. The second and third
conditions must be met and dealt
with, for the prayer to be answered
and our land to be healed. Those
conditions are:
shall humble themselves, <
and > turn from their wicked ways;
< > then will I hear from heaven, <
> and will forgive their sin, < >
and will heal their land.
With
Political Correctness,
Situational Ethics and Moral
Relativism invading our
hearts, minds and actions, the
majority of all individuals
[including Christians] no
longer recognize sin as sin. Our
national leaders openly lie and fail
to keep their word. Our nations
laws have been eroding for years.
Adultery and sodomy are no longer
prosecuted. Abortion, homosexual
marriages, pornography are becoming
common place activities; and the
list goes on and on. Our
nation has become more pagan as the
years have passed. We have turned
from the holy scriptures, to do what is right in our
own eyes! In
other words, we no longer believe and
practice what God has declared as
the final word on all situations and
moral behavior.
Therefore,
Christians are duty bound to take a
biblical stand of making righteous
judgments in these evil days! Our
Lord Jesus Christ said: "The
world cannot hate you; but Me it
hateth, because I testify of it,
that the works thereof are evil. . .
Judge not according to the
appearance, but judge righteous
judgment. John 7:7-24.
How
do the norms of our day, like
Political Correctness, Situational Ethics and Moral
Relativism (all of which are
openly taught in our public schools,
even many churches) affect not only our
society as a whole, but also decisions made by Christians? This
short study will give you much solid and
sound doctrine concerning what God
really expects and demands of His
children, that are called by His
name. This is the Command of God to
make scriptural discernment and to
judge righteously, but this is not
so with the tradition
of man that is widely observed and
practiced in the days in which we
live!
Any thing that is in opposition to the
written
Will
and Word of God is a lie!
