"We regard the London Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689 (excepting the
assertions regarding the salvation of the mentally incompetent [10:3]) and the
identity of the antichrist [26:4] and the Canons of Dortrecht (excluding
Article 17 of the first head of doctrine) as excellent, though not inspired,
expressions of the teaching of the Word of God. Because we acknowledge the
word of God written to be the supreme authority in all matters of faith,
morals, and order, we adopt these two historic documents as our doctrinal
standards. We find them to be an assistance in controversy, a confirmation in
faith, and a means of edification in righteousness."
